The Dreaded Interview ...be prepared!!
-
It may be an idea to take a copy of your CV with you. It is always a good idea
to tailor your CV to the specific job you are after (but don’t lie)
-
Always get “Suited and Booted” for your interview (you can never be too smart)
and avoid bright garish colours or bright make-up / jewellery.
-
Always greet your interviewer with a bright smile, a firm hand shake (but not
too firm) and introduce yourself.
-
Don’t fold your arms or bite your nails, give off positive body language.
-
Don’t say anything negative about yourself or previous employers.
-
Always be honest but not necessarily too modest.
-
Don’t say anything that you can not back up with evidence.
-
Make sure you have examples in mind, of previous experience at work, i.e When
you’ve had to deal with a difficult customer, or had a large report to prepare.
-
Talk about problems that you solved for previous employers and past
achievements at work and / or outside work.
-
Be prepared to answer questions that require more than a “Yes” or “No” answer
as well as “Prove it” questions where you will have to give examples.
-
Be prepared for silences (Do you get rattled easily?).
-
Always keep a positive tone.
-
Research the company prior to interview.
- Focus on what you have to offer the employer, not just on what they can offer you.
